Hydrogen Pipeline

Hydrogen pipeline network

Air Liquide

Air Liquide's private hydrogen network in the Rhine-Ruhr area, founded in 1938, runs from Castrop-Rauxel via Marl, Oberhausen, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Krefeld, Leverkusen, Dormagen to other cities. The network has a total length of 240 kilometers. The route of Air Liquide's hydrogen network is shown schematically on H2Land NRW and does not correspond to the actual route of the pipelines.

The Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) approved the German hydrogen core network on October 22, 2024. The core network is planned with a maximum total length of 9,040 km by 2032 and the further expansion of the network will be planned from 2026 using the integrated gas and hydrogen network development planning process. In North Rhine-Westphalia, around 1,700 km of core network are initially planned. The hydrogen core network in North Rhine-Westphalia will be shown on H2Land NRW at a later date.
