Fuel cell vehicles mobilize the Steinfurt district
Mobility
The district of Steinfurt is becoming a hydrogen region that will use fifty of its renewable energy sources to produce green hydrogen and power fuel cells. What could be more obvious than to take the lead and show that hydrogen mobility is possible in rural areas? The district of Steinfurt would like to set an example with the inter-municipal use of fuel cell vehicles. This enables the development of structures and is part of the mobility change in the region. The district of Steinfurt is taking on an important model function for local climate protection. With this step, it is fulfilling this function for municipal vehicle fleets, fleets in companies and for citizens. Furthermore, this is also a further step towards the goal of a climate-neutral district administration by 2030. The fuel cell vehicle will be available to employees as a company vehicle in the fleet pool. The handling is explained on the intranet, provided in a short training session when the vehicle is picked up and presented to all interested parties in the office on an action day. Refueling will take place at the H2 filling station in Steinfurt planned for 2020. The filling station will meet the NIP requirement for the use of renewable sources. By 2023, there will be two additional H2 filling stations (public + further for buses), which will be supplied 100% with green hydrogen from renewable energies from various generator locations in the Steinfurt district and mobile distribution via trucks.
