Sustainable water storage using advanced layered nanostructured magnesium alloys

Infrastructure project

The production of advanced alloys with exceptional sustainable, functional performance is a turning point for the commercialization of advanced manufacturing technologies and a key issue for the 4th industrial revolution, also considering the environmental challenges of reducing CO2 emissions. For this purpose, thermally stable, high-performance nanostructured (nanolayered) nanocomposites with stable border surfaces for hydrogen storage are highly desirable. Within the framework of the proposed project, the newly developed method of accumulative fold forging (AFF) will be applied to describe the hydrogen storage reaction of a Mg/Nb alloy based on extreme grain refinement down to the nano range and the synthesis of a nanolayered structure.
