Fuel cell vehicles mobilize the Steinfurt district

Mobility

The District of Steinfurt would like to be a Hydrogen Region that uses locally generated renewable energies for the generation of green hydrogen and the drive of fuel cells. It therefore makes sense to move forward and show that hydrogen mobility is possible in rural areas. The City of Lengerich would like to set an example in cooperation with the District of Steinfurt with the use of fuel cell vehicles. This enables the development of structures and is part of the mobility change in the region. The City of Lengerich, together with the District of Steinfurt, is an important role model for local climate protection. By purchasing a fuel cell vehicle, it is fulfilling this function for fleets in companies and for citizens. The fuel cell vehicle will be available to employees of the Lengerich municipal drainage system as a company vehicle and will replace the previous company vehicle. The handling will be explained on the intranet, provided in a short training session when the vehicle is picked up, and presented to all interested parties in the office on an action day. Refueling will take place at the existing H2 filling stations in Osnabrück-Hasbergen and Münster-Amelsbüren as well as within the framework of regularly scheduled service trips to the district and the planned H2 filling stations in Steinfurt. In the coming years, the filling station network will be expanded to meet the needs of the local population. In particular, a filling station with green hydrogen is conceivable in the bioenergy park in the neighboring municipality of Saerbeck and is fully supported and implemented by the city of Lengerich.
