Fuel cell vehicles mobilize the Steinfurt district
Mobility
The district of Steinfurt would like to be a Hydrogen Region that uses renewable energy generated locally for the generation of green hydrogen and the drive of fuel cells. The city of Rheine, as the largest municipality in the district of Steinfurt, also wants to set a good example and continue to convert its municipal fleet to renewable energy. Four electric cars were purchased five years ago. These have replaced four diesel cars on short distances. The purchase of a vehicle with hydrogen technology for medium and long distances is the logical next step towards environmentally friendly and sustainable mobility. The city of Rheine also wants to show that hydrogen technology is not a niche product, but represents a realistic alternative for companies and private individuals. Regarding the reduction of greenhouse gases, the purchase of a vehicle with hydrogen technology is a further step in the master plan 100% climate protection and the communal goals set in it until the year 2050. The fuel cell vehicle will be available as a company vehicle in the fleet pool. Handling will be demonstrated in a short training session when the vehicle is picked up and will be presented to all interested parties in the office. Refueling will take place at the H2 filling station in Steinfurt planned for 2020. The filling station will meet the NIP requirement for the use of renewable sources. By 2023, there will be two additional H2 filling stations (public + further for buses), which will be supplied 100% with green hydrogen from renewable energies from various generator locations in the Steinfurt district and mobile distribution via trucks.
