Fuel cell vehicles mobilize the Steinfurt district

Mobility

The district of Steinfurt would like to be a Hydrogen Region that uses renewable energy produced locally for the generation of green hydrogen and the drive of fuel cells. So what could be more obvious than to take the lead and show that hydrogen mobility is possible in rural areas. The district of Steinfurt would like to set an example with the inter-municipal use of fuel cell vehicles. This enables the development of structures and is part of the mobility change in the region. The municipality of Westerkappeln is an important role model for local climate protection. By purchasing a fuel cell car, the municipal administration is sending a clear signal to entrepreneurs and citizens that hydrogen is the fuel of the future. The fuel cell vehicle will be available to employees of the Westerkappeln town hall as a company vehicle in the municipal fleet pool. Handling will be explained on the intranet, given a short training session when the vehicle is picked up, and presented to all interested employees on an action day. Refueling takes place mainly at the H2 filling station in Osnabrück-Hasbergen, which was installed in 2018. For refueling in the Steinfurt district, the H2 filling station in Steinfurt planned for 2020 can be used. The filling station will meet the NIP requirement for the use of renewable sources. By 2023, there will be two additional H2 filling stations (public + further for buses), which will be supplied 100% with green hydrogen from renewable energies from various production sites in the district of Steinfurt and mobile distribution via trucks.
