Innovation Project

Joint project: H2BED; Subproject: Interaction of H2 with gas components and inhibitors

H2BED - Development of basic technologies for 100% hydrogen gas turbines to support the energy transition in Germany? Sub-project: Interaction of H2 with gas components and inhibitors

Other

Hydrogen can have a damaging effect on metal materials used in industrial processes. The project aims to determine whether small amounts of hydrogen associated gases, e.g. methane, oxygen or hydrogen sulphide, as can occur in hydrogen production from different resources and production processes in raw hydrogen, at temperatures of 250 to 350°C, promote or hinder the damaging effect of gas turbine materials. Such effects are known at temperatures below 100°C for sulphur water (stimulating) or oxygen (inhibiting). Whether this also applies to significantly higher temperatures is the subject of the investigation.
