Fundamentally new production processes and procedures as well as improved infrastructure and framework conditions are essential for a competitive and at the same time climate-neutral industrial location. In order to shape this process of change together with companies, science and the state government, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia launched the IN4climate.NRW initiative in 2019. As a working platform for companies in the energy-intensive basic materials industry (in particular steel and non-ferrous metals, chemicals and petrochemicals, cement and lime, paper, glass and ceramics), science and politics, IN4climate.NRW has since provided significant impetus for the necessary transformation processes in industry - not only in NRW, but also across state borders and in international cooperation projects. Since 2022, the initiative has been managed by the Industry & Production department of NRW.Energy4Climate. Hydrogen has been one of the initiative's key topics from the start. The focus is on the role of industry in ramping up the hydrogen economy in NRW and the development of appropriate political framework conditions. The headquarters of IN4climate.NRW and the Ruhr Metropolis regional office of NRW.Energy4Climate are located in the Science Park in Gelsenkirchen.
