Techno-economic Analysis of Paths to a Climate-Neutral and Flexible Gas Supply in the Integrated Energy System of the Future
Infrastructure project
The aim of the joint project is to assess the role of synthetic gases in the energy system, particularly with regard to their impact on the transformation of the European gas infrastructure, the interaction with other options for sector coupling and the further development of the regulatory framework. The analysis should be carried out both from the perspective of the overall system as well as from the perspective of the actors. The goals of the GWI work are to detailed illustration of the future technical development options of the gas industry, including the diversification and import of biogas, LNG, H2 or LH2, as well as the key technologies for hydrogen production, gas transport networks, distribution of electricity and water supply networks, and the changing role of underground gas storage.
