Research Centre Jülich: -Techno-economic System Analysis (IEK-3) -Electrochemical Process Engineering (IEK-14)

In the energy system analyses of IEK-3, sector coupling is an essential component. This also includes the investigation of hydrogen production by means of electrolysis. In the field of PEM electrolysis, this includes the investigation of various gas diffusion layers, work on the reduction of precious metals in the electrodes and materials research for bipolar plates. Electrolysis research at IEK-14 is concerned with low-temperature electrolysis. The focus is on cell components, the development of nanostructures, catalysts, electrodes and membrane electrode units, among other things. Further research focuses are the development of stack and system components.
