Innovation Project
production with hydrogen-rich coke oven gas
Industrial Application
From March 2024, three companies from the zinc, aluminum and glass industries (ZINQ and Trimet from Gelsenkirchen and Verallia from Essen) will be supplied with hydrogen-rich energy gas (coke oven gas) from the ArcelorMittal Bremen coking plant at the Bottrop site. The energy gas with a water content of around 60%, which is generated during coke production in Bottrop, replaces natural gas in the production processes and thus reduces CO2 emissions. At the same time, the plant technology is being prepared for the later use of green hydrogen.
