Production with hydrogen-rich coke oven gas

Three companies from the zinc, aluminium and glass industries (ZINQ and Trimet from Gelsenkirchen and Verallia from Essen) will be supplied with hydrogen-rich energy gas (coke oven gas) from the ArcelorMittal Bremen coke plant at the Bottrop site from March 2024. The energy gas with a hydrogen content of approx. 60 %, which is produced during coke production in Bottrop, replaces natural gas in the production processes and thus reduces CO2 emissions. At the same time, the plant technology is being prepared for the later use of green hydrogen.
