NIP II - Hy-Lab

Development and construction of two independent laboratories for hydroserum quality measurement according to international standards

Mobility

Fuel-cell vehicles powered by hydrogen provide an emission-free electric mobility with large ranges and short refueling times. However, hydrogen sludge can contain impurities that can-cells. In order to be able to guarantee the required lifetime of fuel cells, the water-discharge quality at gas stations must therefore be checked regularly. The permissible pollution limits are defined in the international standard ISO 14687-2. However, there is currently no independent laboratory in Germany which can carry out these sophisticated analyses. For this reason, as part of the project "Hy-Lab - Development and construction of two independent laboratories for the measurement of hydrogen quality according to international standards", the Analytical laboratories of the Centers for Brennstoffzelltechnik GmbH (ZBT) and the Centers for Sonnenenergie- und Wassertsoff Forschung Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) expanded and strengthened, will in future be available as independent samplers and laboratories throughout Germany and Europe for quality monitoring at filling stations.
