Fuel cell vehicles mobilise the Steinfurt district

Mobility

The district of Steinfurt wants to be a hydrogen region that uses locally generated renewable energies to produce green hydrogen and power fuel cells in the future. So it makes sense to go ahead and show that hydrogen mobility is possible in rural areas. The city of Lengerich, in cooperation with the district of Steinfurt, would like to set a good example with the use of fuel cell vehicles. This enables the establishment of structures and is part of the mobility transformation in the region. The city of Lengerich, together with the district of Steinfurt, takes on an important role model function for climate protection locally. With the acquisition of a fuel cell vehicle, it is fulfilling this function for fleets in companies as well as for citizens. The fuel cell vehicle will be available to the employees of the Lengerich municipal drainage system as a company vehicle and will replace the previous company vehicle. The handling will be explained on the intranet, demonstrated in a short training session when the vehicle is collected and presented to all interested parties in the office during an action day. Refuelling will take place at the existing H2 filling stations in Osnabrück-Hasbergen and Münster-Amelsbüren, as well as at the planned H2 filling stations in Steinfurt during regular business trips to the district. In the coming years, the filling station network is expected to become denser. In particular, a filling station with green hydrogen is conceivable in the bioenergy park of the neighbouring municipality of Saerbeck and is unreservedly advocated and supported by the city of Lengerich.
