Fuel cell vehicles mobilise the Steinfurt district
Mobility
The district of Steinfurt wants to be a hydrogen region that uses its locally generated renewable energies to produce green hydrogen and power fuel cells in the future. So what could be more obvious than to go ahead and show that hydrogen mobility is possible in rural areas? The city of Horstmar, in cooperation with the district of Steinfurt, wants to set a good example with the use of fuel cell vehicles. This enables the establishment of structures and is part of the mobility change in the region. The city of Horstmar takes on an important role model function for climate protection locally. With this step, it is fulfilling this function vis-à-vis municipal vehicle fleets, fleets in companies and for citizens. Furthermore, this is also a further step towards the goal of a climate-friendly municipal administration. The fuel cell vehicle will be available to employees as a company vehicle. The handling will be explained on the intranet, demonstrated in a short training session when the vehicle is collected and presented to all interested parties in the office during an action day. Refuelling will take place at the H2 filling station in Steinfurt planned for 2020. The filling station will meet the NIP requirement to use renewable sources. By 2023, there will be two more H2 refuelling stations (public + more for buses), which will be supplied 100% with green hydrogen from renewable energy sources from various producer locations in the Steinfurt district and mobile distribution via truck.
