Fuel cell vehicles mobilise the Steinfurt district
Mobility
The district of Steinfurt wants to be a hydrogen region that uses its locally generated renewable energies to produce green hydrogen and power fuel cells in the future. So what could be more obvious than to go ahead and show that hydrogen mobility is possible in rural areas? The district of Steinfurt wants to set a good example with the inter-communal use of fuel cell vehicles. This enables the establishment of structures and is part of the mobility transformation in the region. The municipality of Westerkappeln takes on an important role model function for climate protection locally. With the purchase of a fuel cell car, the municipality is sending a clear signal to entrepreneurs and citizens for hydrogen as the fuel of the future. The fuel cell vehicle will be available to the employees of the Westerkappeln town hall as a company vehicle in the municipal fleet pool. The handling of the vehicle will be explained on the intranet, demonstrated in a short training session when the vehicle is collected and presented to all interested employees during an action day. Refuelling will mainly take place at the H2 filling station installed in Osnabrück-Hasbergen in 2018. For refuelling in the Steinfurt district, the H2 filling station in Steinfurt planned for 2020 can be used. The filling station will meet the NIP requirement for the use of renewable sources. By 2023, there will be two more H2 refuelling stations (public + more for buses), which will be supplied 100% with green hydrogen from renewable energy sources from various producer locations in the Steinfurt district and mobile distribution via truck.
