The core idea is to produce 100 % green hydrogen by means of electrolysis with electricity - mainly from citizens' wind farms, for which the EEG compensation will end after 20 years (post-EEG plants). This is to supply bus lines, a railway line and filling stations for waste disposal and logistics companies, company cars and, in the future, agricultural vehicles.

In the detailed concept, the generation potential of green hydrogen at five different locations in the Steinfurt district is determined, and the resulting CO2 savings potential is shown. It also describes new business models for companies in the transport, logistics and energy sectors in the district, as well as new economic opportunities for the urban-rural relationship of the district of Steinfurt and the city of Münster. A communication concept tailored to the individual stakeholder groups rounds off the detailed concept. The future implementation and roll-out is to take place in a regionally organised hydrogen competence centre - here we are testing what could succeed in many places: Green hydrogen mobilises the country!
