Hydrogen network Emmerich region

The transmission system operator Thyssengas from Dortmund and the Emmerich municipal utility are working together on the hydrogen supply for the Lower Rhine region. BEW (Bocholter Energie- und Wasserversorgung), which is committed to a hydrogen connection for the Bocholt Industrial Park in the Mussum district, is also involved in the process. Together, a concrete transport connection has now been identified: An existing Thyssengas natural gas pipeline between Emmerich and Bocholt can be converted for hydrogen transport. This should create an H2 supply perspective until 2030 for local companies from industry and small and medium-sized enterprises as well as municipal heating planning, and thus planning and investment security. The necessary hydrogen quantities are to be imported from the Netherlands as well as produced with the help of wind power on the North Sea coast or via electrolysers in NRW and Lower Saxony.
