H2R - Hydrogen Rhineland

The initiative H2R - Hydrogen Rhineland stands for a liveable, sustainable and economically strong region. We want to bundle the hydrogen competences of the region and set new impulses for an energy and transport turnaround. Synergies and new potentials are created by bringing together regional actors from politics, business and science. For example, the construction of a hydrogen pipeline to link several producers and users is planned.

In the short term, we want to use the existing resources of the by-product hydrogen of our chemical industry. Gradually, this will be supplemented and replaced by regionally produced green hydrogen imported via pipelines. Our hydrogen thus stores renewable energy, provides clean fuel for mobility and makes industrial processes climate-neutral. In this way, we increase the quality of life of our citizens and advance climate protection.
