H2HS
Production of green hydrogen for use in fuel cell buses
Mobility
The state of North Rhine-Westphalia is supporting the Rhineland region with 1.8 million euros in the development and application of hydrogen technologies. The H2Hs project was launched on the initiative of the Heinsberg Economic Development Agency and with the support of the Heinsberg district. Medium-sized companies from the region are driving the project forward. The plan is to build an electrolyzer with an output of one megawatt. This will enable around twelve fuel cell buses to be operated and around 1,000 tons of CO2 to be saved per year. A special highlight of the plant is the use of by-products: the waste heat from the electrolyzer is used to heat buildings and the oxygen produced is to be used in a sewage treatment plant.
