The use of hydrogen sulfide or its admixture, if possible without the costly reinstallation of complete kiln systems, has not yet been introduced in the brick industry. Knowledge about the current flow within such burners, which allows both alternative fuel gases or fuel gases in undifferentiated mixing ratios to be used, is currently not available. The effects of this technology on production conditions, influences on the firing process and the resulting changes in the energy balance of the overall system consisting of dryer and kiln must be specified. They must be considered before technical introduction and enable the industry to take a small step towards climate neutrality.
