AMAZING
The use of renewable energy in conjunction with a membrane not only offers the advantage of using renewable electrical energy to heat the reactor, but also opens up the potential for improved use of by-products, in this case hydrogen. Compared to conventional fossil fuel-heated reactor systems, this type of reactor technology has the potential to almost completely eliminate the CO2 footprint and also deliver ‘green’ hydrogen as a by-product that can be used as a raw material.
The aim of the project is therefore to develop an energy-efficient way of producing chemical building blocks (e.g., ethylene) from renewable energy through catalytic reductive dehydrogenation in a MIEC membrane reactor using a 3D printing process and also using the conventional film casting process.
