Electrolysers
AEM-Multicore in the H2-Application Lab
The AEM multicore electrolyser is the first electrolyser with anion exchange membrane technologies to have an output of 1 megawatt. It was developed to enable flexible and economical hydrogen production on an industrial scale. The system is based on a modular design in which numerous electrolysis stacks are connected to form a powerful unit. This structure allows operation to be dynamically adapted to the availability of renewable energies. The concept also increases operational reliability, as individual modules can be maintained independently of each other. The aim of the test operation is to further develop the technology for efficient and sustainable hydrogen production and to scale it up to higher power ranges.
