Hydrogen-based energy supply system Bünde
The hydrogen-based energy supply system in Bünde serves the purpose of knowledge transfer and research in the field of hydrogen technology. The entire system is transparently housed in a container on the premises of Energie- und Wasserversorgung Bünde GmbH. The system consists of a 15 kW PEM electrolyzer for producing hydrogen from surplus solar power, a storage facility (bottle bundle, up to 35 bar), and a 5 kW fuel cell for converting the hydrogen back into heat and electricity. The project is researching the efficient combination of electrolysis, photovoltaics, and fuel cell technology. A particular focus is on hydrogen storage and its use as a flexible energy storage medium – especially for bridging periods of low sunlight.
