Innovation Project
UG2: H2_React
Transport of hydroserfaction in rocks under descriptions of abiotic and microbial redox reactions
Infrastructure project
In the context of the GEO:N program “Use of underground geosystems”, H2_ReacT was supported as a cooperation project between RWTH Aachen, BGR and GFZ. The overarching objective was a comprehensive understanding of all potentially relevant transport and transformation processes in geological reservoirs, which were used to store hydrogen. The follow-up project H2_ReacT-Phase 2 pursues further this objective by collecting reliable experimental data and parameters on the reactivity and mobility of molecular hydrogen in connection with the use of underground space. Both abiotic chemical reactions and microbial implementations as well as transport mechanisms of molecular hydrogens under elevated (“in situ”) pressure and temperature conditions are considered.
