Electrolysers

Trailblazer

Air Liquide has built the 20-megawatt ‘Trailblazer’ electrolyser at its Oberhausen site, which is used to produce renewable hydrogen. The plant is directly connected to Air Liquide's existing hydrogen pipeline and supplies industry and the mobility sector in the Rhine-Ruhr region with sustainable hydrogen.

The PEM electrolyser was developed as part of a partnership between Air Liquide and Siemens Energy. Since its official inauguration in August 2024, the plant has been producing up to 2,900 tonnes of renewable hydrogen and renewable oxygen annually. In a second expansion phase, Air Liquide plans to increase the electrolyser's capacity to 30 megawatts in order to further expand the supply of green hydrogen.
