Series production of hydrogen fuel cell-based train propulsion systems

At the Herten Hydrogen Centre, Cummins Hydrogenics GmbH has been producing fuel cell systems for Alstom trains for the world's first passenger trains powered by hydrogen fuel cells since March 2022. Work is also being done on the further development of hydrogen fuel cells. In a next step, the fuel cells produced in Herten will also be reprocessed here after their use.
