Electrolysers
H2W – Hydrogen for Wuppertal
In Wuppertal, hydrogen is produced by electrolysis, with the electricity required for this process coming from the waste-to-energy plant operated by Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft mbH Wuppertal. This sustainably produced hydrogen is used to power fuel cell buses operated by Wuppertal's municipal utility company. Production takes place in a 2-megawatt plant that uses surplus energy to produce the hydrogen. Another advantage of this concept is the possibility of refuelling the buses directly at the waste-to-energy plant, which ensures efficient and environmentally friendly use of resources.
