Mechernich - Peterheide (350/700bar)

Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH (RVK) broke ground in August 2026 on the H₂ refuelling station for its hydrogen bus fleet at Peterheide in Mechernich.

The facility is to be built on the site of the future Training and Further Education Centre for Climate-Neutral and Digital Mobility (AWM). At its heart will be an electrolyser, which is to be powered exclusively by electricity from renewable sources. In addition, there will be a publicly accessible refuelling station located in front of the future building complex.

Two 350-bar refuelling points will be available for the buses, whilst an additional 700-bar point is planned for cars and lorries. 

The facility is scheduled to come into operation by the end of 2026.
