Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion
Research focuses at the MPI CEC include hydrogen production through electrolysis (water splitting), chemical CO2 reduction, the conversion of hydrogen into other chemical products and transportable and more easily storable forms such as methanol or ammonia. The optimization of these processes and the various forms of catalysis are also a research focus. Catalysis is an essential technology for electrolysis and other conversion processes. Therefore, attempts are being made to develop catalysts that are made of both sustainable and cost-effective materials.
