R&D Projects

HyFilDrain

The future increase in hydrogen demand is bringing pipeline transport to the fore. Due to long transport distances, hydrogen must be regularly compressed to its initial pressure. Compression requires appropriate compressors, which must be equipped with coalescence filters to ensure the purity of the hydrogen during transport. The project focuses on the development and implementation of a novel technology for the production of coalescence filter media, which are manufactured using a foam application process. A targeted design of the filter media enables a reduction in pressure loss and thus enormous CO2 savings potential. In order to determine the CO2 savings potential under real conditions, a hydrogen test bench is being set up for testing purposes.
