Innovation Project

joint project: HyFilDrain

Development of energy-efficient coalescence filter media for CO2 savings in the sealing of hydrostatic pressure using a novel manufacturing process? Sub-project: Numerical modeling and simulation of filter systems based on machine learning and CFD methods

Infrastructure project

The project deals with the development and implementation of a novel technology for the production of coalescence filter media which is produced using a foam application process. A targeted design of the filter media enables a reduction in pressure loss and a huge CO2 savings potential. In order to average the CO2 savings potential under real conditions, a hydroserum test bench will be set up for testing purposes. Parallel to the experiments, numerical investigations are based on classic CFD methods, as well as on machine-learning-based approaches. Models for different scales can be calculated through suitable co-simulations. The validated models were used for the optimization of complex filter structures and allow an increase in the efficiency of the filter media.
