Innovation Project
Joint project: H2BED; Sub-project: Development of burner technology and thermal insulation layers
H2BED - Development of basic technologies for 100% hydrogen gas turbines to support the energy transition in Germany? Sub-project: Development of burner technology and thermal insulation layers as well as investigation of gas turbine materials for 100% hydrogen
Other
The 'H2BED' project aims at the development of technologies for 100% hydrogen-gas turbines to speed up the energy transition in Germany. Technologies for the DLE hydrogen combustion, materials engineering and thermal insulation layers will be developed, which can be used in new plants and to retrofit existing plants. In the WP1 DLE hydrogen burner work package, Siemens Energy will lead the development of the DLE platform technology for 100% hydrogen capability. The team will develop and apply scaling principles to avoid flashback and thermoacoustic instabilities. Siemens Energy will also carry out several high-pressure test campaigns in the single burner test bench. In the WP2 work package, Siemens Energy will guide the development of methods for cyclic reduction tests and prepare the material data for component design. In the WP3 work package, Siemens Energy is responsible for the development and investigation of heat insulation layers. This project makes an important contribution to the decarbonisation of energy supply and supports the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and the EU-'Green Deal'.
