HydrOxy

As part of the ‘HydrOxy Hub Walsum’ project, Iqony plans to implement large-scale hydrogen production at the traditional power plant site in Duisburg-Walsum. In the first expansion stage, a PEM electrolyser with a capacity of around 150 MW is to be built in 2027.

A gradual expansion of capacity is planned in the medium term: by 2029, the electrolysis capacity is to be expanded to 300 MW, and by 2031 to approximately 500 MW. The Duisburg-Walsum site offers ideal infrastructural conditions for this, including an existing connection to the high-voltage grid and planned access to the hydrogen core network.
