Hydrogen Hub Aachen

On February 17, 2021, the mayor of the city of Aachen and the chief administrative officers of the Aachen city region and the districts of Düren, Euskirchen and Heinsberg agreed with the managing director of the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce to join forces to jointly develop a holistic hydrogen strategy. To this end, the joint initiative "HYDROGEN HUB Aachen" was launched in order to create a successful positioning as a hydrogen model region. This includes, for example, the establishment of a hydrogen partner network made up of regional and national players. The use of hydrogen in industrial medium-sized companies is also being promoted. In order to ensure the necessary market ramp-up of hydrogen technology, not only laboratory and pilot applications are necessary, but above all the broad use of this technology in industrial medium-sized companies. The Aachen technology region is characterized by an application-oriented research infrastructure that is unique in Germany.
