Electrolysers
Hydrogen Center Hamm
The green hydrogen production project is being implemented by the project company ‘Wasserstoffzentrum Hamm’ (Hamm Hydrogen Centre) – a cooperation between Stadtwerke Hamm, Trianel, Stadtwerke Bochum and DSW21. The plan is to build a 20-megawatt electrolyser on the site of the Trianel gas-fired power plant in Hamm-Uentrop, which is to be completed by the end of 2027. This is expected to produce up to 1,500 tonnes of green hydrogen at 4,000 full-load hours per year.
The energy required for electrolysis will come from wind power and photovoltaic plants or new wind turbines in the Hamm region. The total cost of the project is €43 million, of which the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is providing €17.5 million in funding. The main consumers of the hydrogen will be public transport, the logistics sector and industrial companies in the region.
