Heat island Linnich

In fall 2022, the hydrogen heating island in Linnich successfully began trial operations. Gelsenwasser Energienetze operates a 130-meter-long distribution network here that runs exclusively on hydrogen, using it to heat a warehouse and workshop hall as well as an office building. During the planning phase, the focus was on a detailed safety concept and an H2-ready analysis of the components and equipment installed in the gas pipe network and the gas installation. This small-scale hydrogen network makes full use of the existing gas infrastructure.
