Electrolysers
H2HS
The plan is to build an electrolyser with PEM technology and an output of two megawatts, which will be powered by surplus energy from local wind and solar parks. In addition, a hydrogen filling station is to be built, where around twelve fuel cell buses can be refuelled. This will save around 1,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
The waste heat from the electrolyser will be used to heat buildings, while the oxygen produced will be used in a sewage treatment plant. This efficient use of material and heat flows increases the overall economic efficiency of the plant. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia is funding the project with 1.8 million euros, thereby supporting sustainable hydrogen production and use in the region.
