H2Giga_TP_PEP.IN

The PEP.IN research project aims to make the manufacture of PEM electrolyzers for hydrogen production more cost-effective, efficient, and scalable for industrial mass production. The focus is on developing new production and automation technologies, as well as optimizing the entire manufacturing process—from stack design and automated assembly to logistics and quality assurance.

In doing so, insights and technologies from automated fuel cell production are being applied to electrolysis. Robotics, specially developed gripping systems, and intelligent monitoring are intended to enable reproducible and highly scalable production processes. In addition, concepts for predictive maintenance and an efficient supply chain are being developed.

The long-term goal of the project is to lay the groundwork for industrial production of up to one gigawatt of electrolysis capacity per year.
