Electrolysers
GreenMotionSteel
As part of Air Liquide's GreenMotionSteel project, a 120-megawatt electrolyser is to be built at the Marl Chemical Park. The project is classified as an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) and will receive funding of around 53 million euros from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and around 125 million euros from the federal government.
The planned electrolyser is based on Silyzer 300 technology, which was developed by a joint venture between Air Liquide and Siemens Energy, and uses the principle of PEM electrolysis. It will be powered exclusively by renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen on an industrial scale from 2027 onwards.
