Electrolyser on Höherweg in Flingern
A local hydrogen production facility featuring a two-megawatt electrolyzer from FEST is being built at Stadtwerke Düsseldorf’s Höherweg site. The hydrogen produced is delivered directly to the public hydrogen refueling station and is used, among other things, to power Rheinbahn’s fuel cell buses.
Electricity generated from the biogenic fraction of local waste incineration serves as the energy source. As a result, the project combines regional energy production, sustainable mobility, and climate protection, creating a local cycle for low-carbon hydrogen production.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport as part of the National Innovation Program for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology.
