Electrolysers

Electrolyser in Bergisch-Gladbach

2 MW PEM - The technological heart of the farm is an integrated PEM electrolyser with a capacity of 2 megawatts, which will be installed on the roof of the hydrogen building. Powered exclusively by electricity from renewable energy sources, the plant splits water into oxygen and hydrogen. In the future, RVK will produce around 850 kg of green hydrogen directly on site every day. A storage volume of around 1,500 kg ensures the continuous supply of the plant's own hydrogen filling station.

In the event of overproduction, the hydrogen is filled into special storage containers. This stock bridges maintenance phases of the electrolyzer or can be delivered to other RVK sites if required. The enormous waste heat generated in the production process is completely absorbed: it not only heats the buildings, but also keeps the entrances and entrances as well as the car wash frost-free on cold winter days.

RVK also uses the highly efficient energy concept from Bergisch Gladbach at their future infrastructure and education site in Mechernich, an identical 2-megawatt PEM electrolysis plant is being built, which will also produce green hydrogen directly on site every day and use the waste heat for the buildings there.
