AmmonVector

Transporting hydrogen over long distances, under high pressure or liquefied at cryogenic temperatures, is very costly compared to transporting oil and is not yet feasible due to a lack of suitable ships. Solutions to these logistical challenges are being developed as part of AmmonVektor. The Fraunhofer flagship project focuses on ammonia as a so-called energy vector, which can be transported easily and without great energy expenditure in its liquid form. Another advantage is that ammonia already has a global transport infrastructure in place through fertilizer production.
