AmmoniaValid

Water recovery from ammonia in a direct current heated catalyst bed with validation production - AmmoniaValid

Hydrogen production

The theme of the project is the development and validation of reactors for nearly loss-free hydrogen production from ammonia (NH3). The energy to maintain the endothermic decomposition reaction is provided in the form of regionally generated green electricity, so that the hydrogen-substance content contained in ammonia can be fully utilized for its actual use. The reactor features a direct electrically heated catalyst bed. This direct Joule heating in a so-called ohmic reactor enables even heat distribution and thus optimal reaction control. This aims to provide an advanced tool with domestically won green power from green ammonia green hydrogen for industry, transport and other segments. Hydrogen can be provided as clearly cost-effectively as domestic electricity from the hydrogen electrolysis, and by using renewable energy no CO2 emissions are generated. The aim of the project is to design and validate a scalable reactor concept.
